The most effective method of prevention is through hepatitis A vaccination.

> Hepatitis B Vaccine

Injection Procedure – Before the injection, the blood test of Hepatitis B antigen and antibody must be administered in advance to confirm whether the carrier has the antibody. If the results of both tests are negative, then three doses of vaccine can be injected, at birth, the 1st and 6th month respectively.

According to the relevant data of Hong Kong reveals that Hepatitis B virus infects as high as 40% of the population. At present, almost 600,000 people are Hepatitis B carriers. It can be followed by cirrhosis and liver cancer. Hong Kong SAR government has offered free injections of Hepatitis B vaccine to infants born in Hong Kong after 1988. However, those locals born before this year have not had enough protection. Therefore, it is necessary for this group of people to receive Hepatitis B vaccination.
